
Junior offensive lineman Maurkice Pouncey was named to the 2009 Rimington Trophy Watch List. The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the Most Outstanding Center in NCAA Division I-A College Football.
In all, there are 43 players on the Watch List. The SEC checks in with the most candidates, with 6 players being named. The ACC, Big-12, Big Ten and WAC are represented by 5 players each on the Watch List.
Pouncey has appeared in 27 games with 26 starts and was Florida’s starting center in all 14 games during the 2008 season, including the Gators’ 2008 SEC and FedEx BCS National Championship Game victories. He garnered SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week Oct. 6 for his performance against Arkansas and was 1 of 5 UF Offensive Players of the Week after the offensive line’s success against LSU.
