The Manning Award announced its 2009 preseason watch list on Monday, and Ole Miss' Jevan Snead is included in the 38 names of college football's top quarterbacks.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that takes into consideration the candidates' bowl performances. The winner will be announced after the bowls in January and will be honored at a February banquet in New Orleans.
A junior from Stephenville, Texas, Snead has also been named to watch lists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year and Davey O'Brien National Quarterback awards. Last year, Snead finished 2nd in the SEC in TD passes (26) and 3rd in passing average (212.5 ypg) and pass efficiency (145.5). His 2008 numbers rank behind only Eli Manning on the Rebel single-season passing charts for efficiency, TDs and yards. The SEC Rocks!
