Florida quarterback Tim Tebow suffered a concussion in the Gators' 41-7 win at Kentucky two weeks ago. After a week off, UF coach Urban Meyer said on Monday the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner's status remains uncertain. The Top-ranked Gators visit LSU for an 8 p.m. game Saturday (CBS). ESPN GameDay will also be in Baton Rouge.
Tebow had a battery of tests last week, after spending the night in the UK Medical Center after the victory.
He was hit midway through the third quarter on a pass play and later carted out of Commonwealth Stadium after getting sick on the sideline.
Meyer said, "Tim looks a lot better'' but continued to call him "day to day.''
Tebow is cleared to "act like Tim Tebow, everything but practice right now.'' Which means he can now read and watch TV,and game film.
He said Tebow's headache has been gone for several days. But he has not been cleared to practice.
He will not practice today,'' Meyer said.
Tebow had baseline testing to check on his progress on Friday, Saturday and today.
Saturday's game at fourth-ranked LSU is the first meeting between two teams ranked in the top five in 50 years.
The Tigers have won 4 of the last 7 meetings. The last time the Gators visited Baton Rouge ranked no. 1 was in 1997 , the year after Florida won its first national title. LSU won 28-21.
Meyer said he will announce whether or not Tebow will play to the media, when he is sure, unless it is late in the week. Asked if keeping it quiet would hurt LSU's pregame preparation, he doubted it.
"A lot of that, I think it overrated,'' Meyer said. The SEC Rocks!
