Forget Mark Ingram; what about Terrence Cody for Heisman? The Alabama defensive lineman blocked two field goal attempts -- including the potential game-winning kick with :04 left , to help the Tide stave off Tennessee in one of the most exciting 12-10 games you'll ever see.
On the strength of four Leigh Tiffin field goals, the Tide built a 12-3 lead with just under four minutes remaining.
However, an Ingram fumble at the 'Bama 43-yard line was recovered by Vols' All-American safety Eric Berry. Eight plays later, UT pulled to within two on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Jonathan Crompton to Gerald Jones.
UT recovered an onside kick with 1:19 left, getting into field goal range with seconds left to set up the second half of Cody's special teams heroics.
And 'Bama survived at home. Barely.
There were two things we here at sec football online took out of this game.
One, Lane Kiffin, with a huge helping hand from his father and defensive coordinator Monte, is building a very, very solid foundation in Knoxville. We've said it before and We'll say it again, here at sec football online, get it while you can SEC. Get your shots in now because, next season, it'll be the Vols doing the majority of the punching on most weekends. The SEC Rocks!
