Ole Miss hit with huge defensive blow

Senior defensive end Greg Hardy has a broken wrist and is likely out for the rest of the season, according to Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt.Hardy, who leads the team with five sacks, was not at practice on Wednesday afternoon. His loss will certainly hurt the Rebels’ pass rush as they prepare to face Tennessee at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The game will be televised on CBS.Tennessee quarterback Jonathan Crompton has thrown for a Southeastern Conference-high 21 touchdowns this season. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Hardy has been hobbled by injuries the entire season. He underwent offseason surgery to repair a broken bone in his right foot. Then in the opening game against Memphis, he sprained his left ankle, which limited his mobility for several weeks. Now comes the wrist injury, which could end Hardy’s career. Nutt did not say when, or how, the injury occurred.Hardy practiced with the team on Tuesday and played during Saturday's 38-14 victory over Northern Arizona.
