Mississippi State football coach Dan Mullen is set to receive a one-year contract extension with no increase to his $1.2 million annual salary when the state College Board meets Thursday in Jackson, according to the board’s agenda that was released this morning.Mullen went 5-7 in his first year as State’s head coach, ending the season on a high note with an Egg Bowl win over Ole Miss.
Mullen’s new contract will run through the 2013 season. It brings his contract back to the four-year maximum allowable under Mississippi law. Mullen receives $250,000 in base pay from the athletic department and $950,000 from the private Bulldog Foundation.
The College Board’s approval of such items is usually considered a formality.
