Florida redshirt freshman Andre Debose returned to practice today, joining the team in a full workout for the first time since a torn hamstring injury last fall ended his chance at playing last season.
Debose was a highly-touted recruit from Samford Seminole High, who was projected to be the heir apparent to former Gator Percy Harvin. But after struggling early in the season with the hamstring injury that first surfaced during track season in his senior year of high school, Debose underwent surgery in September and missed the entire season.
Florida QB John Brantley said following Monday's practice he was thrilled to have Debose back with the rest of the team.
"It feels good,'' Brantley said. "He's a heck of a player, he's fast as can be, and I'm just happy to see him back out here running around. There were no real setbacks, he looked good. It can only get better from here. He's only going to get faster, so that's a plus.''
Debose was not available for interviews after practice, but Brantley said he wasn't surprised at how Debose responded to being back in full practice.
"He's been telling me all spring that he wanted to get back out here, so he was very happy today,'' Brantley said.
