UGA associate athletic director Claude Felton announced Wednesday afternoon that the NCAA will hear A.J. Green's appeal of his multi-game suspension Friday. Even as the appeal will be heard at the end of the work week, there's no guarantee Green or the school will get a decision from the NCAA before Saturday afternoon's game against Arkansas.
The appeal will take place via a conference call.
The school is looking for the NCAA to reduce the remainder of what could be a four-game suspension for Green. The All-American wide receiver has already missed the first two games of the season. If the appeal is unsuccessful, he'd miss this weekend's game as well as the following week against Mississippi State.
It was reported earlier today that the person Green sold the jersey to, is a former North Carolina/Marshall defensive back and currently a want to be sports agent, Chris Hawkins. He had been arrested back in April 2009 and charged with felony cocaine trafficking and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Hawkins, who has denied any wrongdoing, has an Oct. court appearance on the charges.
