No. 1 Alabama Downs No. 18 Penn State, 24-3

The No. 1 ranked Alabama football team defeated the No. 18 Penn State Nittany Lions 24-3 before a crowd of 101,821 at Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday night, behind sophomore Trent Richardson's 144 rushing yards on 22 carries and a touchdown. Crimson Tide senior quarterback Greg McElroy threw 229 yards and two touchdowns on 16-of-24 passing. The Alabama defense limited Penn State to 283 yards of offense, while forcing four turnovers, three of which occurred inside the Alabama 20-yard line. Alabama improves to 2-0 while Penn State falls to 1-1. The Tide is on the road next Saturday at Duke.
