Razorback's Mallett,and Adams claim records

Ryan Mallett went three quarters but completed almost all of his passes as the University of Arkansas opened the 2010 season with a 44-3 win over Tennessee Tech before 69,596 fans at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Arkansas moved to 1-0, and faces Louisana-Monroe next week in Little Rock. The Golden Eagles drop to 0-1. Mallett claimed his 17th and 18th Arkansas Razorback school records, but his .875 completion percentage was also the second best effort in a single game in Southeastern Conference history with a minimum of 20 completions. The junior from Texarkana, Ark., threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns, hitting 21-of-24. Junior wide receiver Joe Adams pulled in two of Mallett's season opener tying record three TDs. Adams picked up six for 138 yards, including a career long 85-yard touchdown reception to open Arkansas scoring. Mallett tied the mark for touchdown passes in the season opener, equalling three by Matt Jones against Boise State in 2002 and Clint Stoerner's effort against SMU in 1999. Arkansas allowed Tennessee Tech the first score, a 27-yard field goal by Matthew Barker. After that, the Razorbacks roared through 44 straight points beginning with a seven yard run by Dennis Johnson.
