Ole Miss LB facing burglary charge

It was reported Thursday that Ole Miss had indefinitely suspended linebacker Clarence Jackson for violating unspecified team rules.
According to the Jackson Clarion-Ledger, campus police have filed a burglary charge against the freshman.
Jackson is alleged to have been in possession of a 46-inch flat-screen television, a TV stand and a DVD/CD player with a total value of close to $2,000 early Thursday morning, according to a UPD incident report obtained today by The Clarion-Ledger. The report alleges that a UPD officer pulled over a red Isuzu Rodeo at 5:31 a.m. Thursday in a parking lot of the Starnes Athletic Training Center. As the officer approached the vehicle, the lone occupant, alleged in the report to be Jackson, fled the vehicle toward the rear of the Starnes Center.
UPD officers stated they noticed a television in the vehicle, which was tagged to belong at Hume Hall, a building that houses the university's mathematics department. UPD officers were able to identify Jackson through the vehicle's parking ID number, according to the report.
UPD chief Calvin Sellers said UPD attempted to find Jackson at class, at his dorm room or with his girlfriend but could not locate him until they contacted the UM coaching staff. "They produced him and brought him to us," Sellers said. The incident report said the television belonged in room 108 at Hume Hall, a classroom, and that no signs of forced entry were found.

Jackson has yet to be brought in to face the charge. The Rebels will have no further comment on the situation.
