Vandy's QB Larry Smith threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns and ran for another as Vanderbilt rolled to a 52-6 victory over Eastern Michigan on Saturday night.The Commodores (2-3) scored 24 points in the second quarter, including 17 in the last seven minutes of the half, as they snapped a nine-game losing streak at home.
Smith completed his last eight passes of the half, starting with a 65-yard catch-and-run touchdown to Udom Umoh with 4:21 to go. It was the longest play of both players' careers.
Smith hooked up with Mason Johnston - his first career catch - for a 1-yard touchdown and a 31-3 lead with 22 seconds left in the half.
Eastern Michigan (0-6) has lost 18 straight, the second-longest streak in the Football Bowl Subdivision - with its last win coming on Nov. 28, 2008, against Central Michigan.
