Gene Chizik said Sunday that he was hoping to get some clarification Monday from the SEC on the status of his two defensive lineman who were ejected from Saturday’s win over Georgia for throwing punches. As far as the conference is concerned, there’s nothing to clarify. The lineman will sit out a portion of the Tigers’ next game. SEC associate commissioner Charles Bloom told the Birmingham News Monday that there’s no appeal available to Auburn, and Mike Blanc and Michael Goggans will be suspended for the first two quarters of the Nov. 26 Iron Bowl against Alabama. NCAA rules state that any player that throws a punch is to be suspended the first half of a team’s next game. Too bad there’s not a similar NCAA or SEC rule against putting the crown of a helmet into the back of a quarterback a couple of seconds after he’s released the ball.
