Jan. 8 is officially Cam Newton day

Alabama Governor Bob Riley has announced that tomorrow, Jan. 8, will be known as Cam Newton Day in the state where football game days could easily be identified as a holiday.

Banks and schools will be closed in observance(daah...it's Saturday), and we’re pretty sure there will be a parade in there, too. Newton was unstoppable this season, compiling 49 total touchdowns and has captured and warmed even John Taylor‘s icy heart.

Last year, Riley also gave 2009 Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram a similar honor and boasted that he could be the first Governor to have back-to-back Heisman Trophy and BCS National Championship winners in the same state.
