Bump in pay for Tide’s McElwain approved

The Compensation Committee of the UA Board of Trustees approved a new contract for the Tide offensive coordinator that will include a sizable raise. After making $415,000 in 2010, McElwain will earn $510,000 in 2011. That increase is by far the largest of any of Nick Saban‘s returning assistants, with the exception of defensive coordinator Kirby Smart. After receiving serious overtures from new Florida head coach Will Muschamp to become his coordinator, Smart also received a $100,000 increase to $850,000 for the upcoming season.
