Former four-star lineman leaving UGA

Georgia Bulldogs announced via a very brief press release that offensive lineman A.J. Harmon has decided to transfer from the program. Harmon is leaving for another unnamed institution for, the release states, personal reasons.

Harmon had been suspended for UGA’s Liberty Bowl appearance last year for what was later revealed to be academic issues. The redshirt junior had been trying for a starting job on the right side of the Bulldogs’ line this past spring, but exited the sessions as the No. 2 right tackle.

After redshirting in 2008, Harmon played in seven games the past two seasons. He was the No. 2 guard in the country according to Rivals.com and was given a four-star rating coming out of high school in Louisville, Ga.
