Gamecocks reinstate Victor Hampton

Dismissed South Carolina defensive back Victor Hampton has been reinstated. Athletic spokesman Steve Fink says Hampton was brought back to the team Tuesday. Hampton had been dismissed by coach Steve Spurrier last week for violating team rules. But Fink says Hampton and Spurrier met and the coach decide to let him return to the team. Hampton is a redshirt freshman from Darlington who did not play last season. He is expected to backup cornerback Stephon Gilmore.
