As the leading returning receiver for Auburn, Montez Billings was expected to play a big role in Gus Malzahn's new Tiger offense.
Academic issues kept Billings out of spring practice, but the receiver received his degree in May. However, their is still uncertainty swirling around his availability for the 2009 season, even as he's currently working out on the field with freshman and walk-ons.
"It's still ongoing. I'm not sure exectly," Billings said when asked about the academic issues. "I really don't think about it that much really. The only thing I really focus on is the plays and trying to do everything right on the field."
OK, here it is: Billings is practicing, graduated 3 months ago and head coach Gene Chizik said in July he would "definitely play", yet he still has academic issues that may keep him off the field in '09? The SEC Rocks!
