Alonzo Lawrence has officially transferred to Southern Miss, the school has announced.
Lawrence was released from his Alabama scholarship last month, and immediately his name was linked with Southern Miss.
The redshirt freshman will join the Golden Eagles for the first time today in an afternoon practice.
Per NCAA rules, he will be forced to sit out the 2009 season. Starting in 2010, he will have 3 seasons to use his remaining 3 years of eligibility.
Lawrence was 1 of 4 players Tide head coach Nick Saban mentioned by name as having been removed from the program for violating team rules.
The DB Lawrence has denied any wrongdoing during his time at Alabama. The SEC Rocks!
