Forty players have been named to the preseason Outland Trophy watch list, the Football Writers Association of America announced today.
The SEC led the way with 10 players on the list, while the Big 12 was next with 9.
Seven schools had 2players apiece named to the list: Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, USC and Penn State.
The Outland is the 3rd-oldest major college football award in the country. Since 1946, it's been given annually to the nation's top interior lineman on either side of the ball.
Offensive tackle Andre Smith of Alabama (SEC)was the Outland's 2008 recipient. The SEC Rocks!
