Auburn losses signee to the MLB

Tigers signee Brandon Jacobs has signed a contract with the Red Sox.
The deal will pay Jacobs a signing bonus of $750,000. That number is $600,000 more than the amount recommended by MLB for a player taken after the 5th round. It's also the largest bonus given to any player taken after the 8th round of the June draft.
Jacobs, incidentally, was selected in the 10th round.
Jacobs signed a Letter of Intent with Auburn this past Signing Day, and was a running back at Georgia's Parkview High School. He will start out as an outfielder in the Sox farm system. The SEC Rocks!
