Auburn placekicker Wes Byurm has been named the Southeastern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Byrum was honored for his performance during Auburn's 37-34 victory at Kentucky Saturday. He kicked three field goals during the game, including the game-winner from 24 yards as time expired to give Auburn the victory. It was fifth game-winning field goal of Byrum's career, and his third in Auburn's last seven games (2010 Outback Bowl, 2010 vs. Clemson). It marked the second time he has kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired, joining his winning boot at Florida as a freshman in 2007. The winning kick also established a new school record for Byrum, who added field goals from 38 yards and 19 yards earlier in the contest. He now has 51 career field goals, breaking the previous record of 50 set by John Vaughn (2003-06). Byrum is now just 21 points shy of becoming Auburn's all-time leading scorer. He currently ranks second on the list with 292 points, trailing only Vaughn's school record of 312. Byrum is currently tied for 21st in SEC history in scoring, and tied for 16th among kickers.
