Head coach Gene Chizik confirmed Sunday that starting cornerback T’Sharvan Bell will miss the remainder of the season, including the postseason, due to injury. Bell suffered a knee injury during Saturday’s 45-7 shellacking at the hands of likely SEC East champ Georgia, and will undergo surgery later this week.
Chizik said Bell’s veteran presence in the huddle will be missed the most.
“It’s big, in terms of leadership,” Chizik said. “I think his game, over the last three weeks, has improved, no question about it. But the level of leadership he brings to our defense, that’s probably the biggest thing it’s going to take off the table.”
Bell had started all 10 games this season for the Tigers.
A pair of true freshmen, Jermaine Whitehead and Robenson Therezie, as well as redshirt freshman Jonathon Mincy are in line to replace Bell, Chizik said.
