LSU Tigers go to 6-5 WR Terrance Toliver for game-winner

"Terrance is 6-5, so it’s the matchup you want," LSU quarterback Jarrett Lee said. Indeed, it was the matchup LSU went to for the winning score in Saturday’s 33-29 win over Florida. Lee threw a fade pass twice in a row to Toliver. The first was incomplete. On the second, Toliver took in the 3-yard touchdown pass over the 5-10 Brown with six seconds left in the game, barely getting one foot inbounds on a catch that survived the scrutiny of replay. "Monday morning our receivers coach, former Florida assistant Billy Gonzales told us the only way we could beat this team was by beating man-to-man coverage," Toliver said. "And I took that to heart." Toliver did it all game long, catching six passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns, both from Lee, who, while splitting time with starter Jordan Jefferson, seemed particularly zoned into Toliver. "He’s such a playmaker," Lee said. So when Lee was given the last drive, he looked to the senior from Hempstead, Texas. Toliver caught three passes on the drive for 49 yards, catching passes of 28 and 18 yards to get the Tigers close. "He had a real feel that he could beat those corners," LSU coach Les Miles said of Toliver. "He was right. They had a difficult time handling his height and he has good speed and ball skills," Miles said. "And he can turn a corner too."
